On Wednesday 4 May, an intelligence driven ope- ration by the Piet Retief SAPS Detective’s Unit and the Ermelo SAPS, led to the arrest of a 29-year old suspect who was wanted for murder.
The man was apprehended in Extension 33 in Stragel, Ermelo. In his possession, they found a 9 mm pistol and live rounds, which is believed to have been used during a murder on Sunday 1 May in Iswepe.
The 32-year victim was apparently shot near Everest Tavern, while the suspect was busy committing a robbery. The victim unfortunately later succumbed to his injuries.
Well done to the detectives responsible for working together and bringing this offender to justice.
