On Tuesday 28 September several important role players gathered in Driefontein for the sod-turning of the new Three Fountains Mall that will be built there.
The stakeholders included CDW’s (Community Development Workers), representatives of business – and community forums, the Ward Councillor, representatives of the Taxi Association and the Chief Whip of the Mkhondo Local Municipality, Mr Mhlaliseni Yende.
The proceedings were led by the director of the project, Mr Nic McSeveney and Mr Nico Ramathuba of LTE Civils and Plant.
The shopping centre will be built next to the Driefontein Library and will include popular shops such as Shoprite, Pep Stores, Mr Price, Russels and KFC.
According to Mr Janco le Roux of Shift Capital, construction of the mall will begin within the week and the developers aim to complete the project by November 2022.
After the presentation to the stakeholders, the developers felt it in their hearts to reach out to some impoverished members of the Driefontein community. Food parcels were handed out, which brought a grateful smile to the recipients’ faces.
The project will bring great economic growth and it has the potential to exceed all expectations. Good luck to the developers, we believe that this new venture will be an asset to the community.
