On Saturday 14 August the Dundee July took place in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal and horse racing enthusiasts from all over gathered to enjoy the event.

The event not only included some of the best jockeys and horses racing against each other but, also a fashion show for visitors to enjoy. The models looked extravagant in their outfits and the show was spectacular.

The Deputy Minister of Art, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Ms Nocawe Noncedo Mafu and the MEC of the department, Ms Hlengiwe Mavimbela, also attended the event and took part in the festivities.

The results of the event were as follows:

Grade 6:

• Mzinyathi won this fixture for Mr Gama.

• Scefe was second of Mr Prishen.

• A horse named Ndoday’buzwa, owned by Mr Plaza was third.

Grade 5:  

• Sanitiser, owned by Mr Thango won.

• Shuniwenkani came second for owner Mr Mjiyakho.

• Marikana, owned by Mr Makhathini was third.

• Volovolo was fourth for Mr Sbiya.

• Gqoza, owned by Mr Kheswa came fifth.

Grade 4: 

• Mazondo won this fixture for Mr Gama.

• Nkanyamba, owned by Mr Khoza came second.

• Gupta came third for Mr Vundla.

• Saynyova, own-ed by Mr Mnguni was fourth.

• A horse named Sxaxa came fifth.

Grade 3:  

• Phephandaba, owned my Mr Mhlongo won.

• Svunguvungu came second for Mr Miya.

• Magundane, owned by Mr Mabusela was third.

• Vosho was fourth, owner Mr Khumalo.

• A.K, owned by Mr Madonsela came fifth.

Grade 2: 

• Stetama won this fixture for Mr Mbhele.

• Hlokoloza, own-ed by Mr Mkhize was second.

• Zamcolo came third for Mr Mabaso.

• Mzongenacala, owned by Mr Mhlongo came in fourth.

• Ndiza for Mr Dlame was fifth.

Grade 1: 

• Trouble maker, owned by Mr Nkosi won this race.

• Nxakanxaka came in second for Mr Gama.

• Album, owned by Mr Mtambo was third.

• Sgwebo for Mr Gama was fourth.

• Computer own-ed by Mr Dlame came in fifth.

Ladies:  

• Selimavovo won this race with Miss Nxumalo as the jockey.

• Akuhlekwana, ridden by Miss Miya came second.

• A horse named Qhoboza was third.

• Miss Mhlongo and her horse, Lilizela were fourth.

• Mfazomnyama and Miss Ndlovu came fifth.
