On Wednesday 24 February, the Department of Agriculture took the initiative to train 14 individuals and teach them necessary gardening skills.
During their training, these residents of the Mkhondo area learned how to cultivate the soil, as well as how to plant seeds and how to maintain a successful garden. In a few months, they will be able to harvest delicious vegetables and herbs from their own gardens.
This knowledge will empower them to start their own gardens and also give them the opportunity to provide for their families.
Being outside increases your exposure to vitamin D. It was also found that gardening decreases your risk of dementia!
Special thanks to training officers, Sindi Ndela and P Masango, of the Department of Agriculture for spearheading the training.
