On Friday 30 October members of the SANDF, SAPS, Mkhondo Traffic Department and provincial traffic officers set up various roadblocks.
The Traffic Departmnent officials were stationed on Kruger Street, Gerard Böhmer Lane and the N2 Ermelo road. Many motorists were issued with fines for not adhering to the RTA (Road Traffic Act) and some foreigners who did not have the correct paperwork and their passports on their person, were arrested.
If you are a foreigner in South Africa, it is important for you to always carry your passport with you to avoid being detained. To all motorists – please ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition, that your vehicle’s licence is up to date, that you follow speed limits and that you comply with all other laws of the road to avoid getting a fine.
Thank you to the Traffic Department officials for trying to make our roads safer.
