A stolen vehicle was recovered on Monday 12 October. Members of the Mkhondo SAPS were conducting routine patrols in Eziphunzini when they noticed a vehicle without a licence disc.
The driver of the vehicle was instructed to pull over to the side of the road and whilst the officers were searching it, they also ran the number plate through their NCIC (National Crime Information Centre) database to check for outstanding tickets or if the vehicle was involved in any criminal offences. They then discovered that the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Cullinan in 2011.
The driver was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property and he appeared in the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 13 October.
It sets the members of the community’s minds at ease to know that the SAPS are removing criminals off the streets on a daily basis. Well done!
