From 14 to 18 September, GrainSA together with Amsterdam DARDLEA (Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Enviromental Affairs) hosted a five day course on resource assessment and farm planning to 15 young and hopeful farmers in the Amsterdam community.

The main aim of GrainSA is to encourage and assist the youth to succeed and help them to grow from subsistence farmers (farmers who grow crops to meet the needs of themselves and their families, without any surplus for trade) into commercial farmers.

This five day course was presented by Mr Timon Filter of GrainSA and the attendees will be applying all they have learned to help grow the Amsterdam farming community.

More courses are planned for the future as there was a huge interest for this course throughout the community.
