On Thursday morning 17 September at approximately 02:00, two individuals caused an ATM explosion and damaged a Standard Bank ATM at Mall@Mfula.

The security guards at the mall heard a loud bang followed by a triggered alarm. They then spotted two males running though the mall’s parking lot and into the adjoining field. Upon further investigation they discovered that the two suspects had used explosives to try and access the money inside the ATM and the authorities were immediately alerted.

It was established that the damage from the ATM explosion accumulated to approximately R70 000-00. Fortunately, the criminals did not steal any of the money that they initially came for and no one was injured during the incident.

The Commander of the Detectives of the Mkhondo SAPS, Lieutenant-Colonel Myeni, requests assistance from the community in identifying the guilty parties. They are considered dangerous and need to be apprehended as soon as possible. If you have any information, kindly contact him on 082 556 5605.
