On Monday 17 August the Executive Mayor of the Mkhondo Local Municipality, Mr Vusi Motha, handed over the keys of eight new vehicles to various heads of departments within the municipality.
The Electrical, Forestry, Water and Sanitation, Fire and Rescue, and Amsterdam Departments each received a bakkie to assist them to better their response times when a problem is reported to them. A new water tanker, which will assist the MLM to reach villages that do not currently have access to clean water, and a mobile office were also added to the fleet of Mkhondo Local Municipality vehicles.
This was a necessary expense, as many of these departments were unable to fulfill their duties in the past due to a lack of proper transportation. We believe that this welcome addition to the MLM will be beneficial to all members of the community.
The Mkhondo Fire and Rescue Unit not only received a bakkie from the MLM but, PG Bison also donated a fully equipped HAZMAT response vehicle. A very special thank you to Mr Gerhard Victor and Mr Christo van Aardt of PG Bison.
We look forward to seeing these vehicles in action all around town!
