The only services previously rendered at these offices were the registration and renewal of vehicle licences and the renewal of drivers licences.
Now, more than four years later, the residents of Mkhondo will no longer have to travel to neighbouring towns to apply for their learner or drivers licence. This has been a costly way of doing things as individuals had to travel far to make, and attend their appointments.
According to the Department the R6.8 million project has finally been completed and both the Vehicle Testing Station (for motor vehicles, trucks and motorbikes) and driving Licence Testing Grounds (only for trucks and motor vehicles) are now open for business. The learner licence test will still be handwritten tests.
