Winter is here and many are excited to dust of their winter boots and to indulge in their favourite tummy-warming soups and stews.
Unfortunately, this is the worst time of the year for some as it means braving the cold in unfavourable living conditions.
“Winter is a time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home”- Edith Sitwell
This will be one of the toughest winters for many as the nationwide lockdown left so many families with a loss of income or a reduced salary. Let us all be motivated to share the things we have in abundance, with those who struggle. Let’s not forget to check up on our neighbours. If you have extra blankets or old winter clothes and shoes that no longer fit, please reach out to one of our many welfare organisations in town, CMR (017 826 3422) or Uzwelo Children’s Home(017 826 1204/5647), or ask around locally, and donate it to those who desperately need it. Charity starts at home.
Keep warm and healthy!
