Karate NKZN JKA Championships

The NKZN JKA championships will be held at the Farmer’s Hall in Newcastle on 7 March 2020 and with this in mind all senior karateka participated in a training session, followed by a referees’ & judges and table officials’ refresher course to guarantee the highest standard possible for everyone involved.

Sensei Ilan Bern-stein, 6th Dan and the NKZN JKA Championships tournament Auditor from SA JKA, will be overseeing the tournament and will address all senior officials (on Friday) working at the championship to ensure that everything is run smoothly and according to the SA JKA syllabus. While all officers need to be at the venue at 07:00 on Saturday, the competition will commence for all participants at 09:00.

The Piet Retief JKA Championships karate-ka have been training long and hard for the much awaited championships where a total of nine affiliated clubs entering with twenty three competitors from Piet Retief hopeful for a place in the top four which will secure them a spot in the Kwa-Zulu-Natal team competing at the National Championships in May later this year. The Piet Retief JKA Championships karate dojo has training twice a week at the Holy Cross Catholic Church on Mondays and Wednesdays from 17:00 to 18:00 for beginners and from 18:00 to 19:00 for higher belts.
