Assegaai Marathon Club’s Toy Run

Assegaai Marathon Club’s Toy Run

On Wednesday, 20 November the Assegaai Marathon Club hosted a Toy Run at the Piet Retief Rugby Club.

Due to the rainy weather, this year’s Toy Run only had 50 participants. The entry fee for the event was a toy or book. The participants could donate as many toys or books as they wished.

With the kind hearts of the community members, they managed to fill up a big woven basket, as well as two refuge bags full of toys and books for the Toy Run. These items will be distributed to UROC (Uzwelo Rural Orphan Care) to be used in their mobile playpark.

The Toy Run Runners were encouraged to dress according to the Christmas theme and they did not disappoint! Tanya Teixeira and her husband, Francois, each received an Assegaai Marathon goodie bag for being the best dressed.

This Toy Run was the last Assegaai Marathon Club fun run for 2019. They look forward to another successful year in 2020.

Thank you to the community for always supporting these events, without your attendance they would not be possible.

Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.”- Kathy Calvin
