Stop sign crisis of Mkhondo

On Monday, 2 December Municipality workers were painting stop sign and road markers around town amid the Mkhondo stop sign crisis.

Whilst we are grateful for this service, we can’t help but wonder when they will finally start replacing the missing stop signs. The Mkhondo stop sign crisis is a big cause for concern; it has been the cause of many accidents over the past few months and if this situation is not rectified soon, more road accidents are a possibility.

According to https://www.safetysignonline.co.za/20-road-signs, a stop sign costs an average of R400-00 to purchase, considering that installing these signs might save a life, it is not a high price to pay.

To the Mkhondo Local Municipality: Please make work of replacing the missing stop signs before we enter the festive season.
