On Friday, 29 November several stakeholders of Mkhondo launched a Sixteen Days of Activism campaign advocating against the abuse of women and children.
The launch of the Sixteen Days of Activism campaign took place at Osloop Village. As a build-up to the Sixteen Days of Activism launch, members of the SAPS embarked on a series of crime awareness campaigns where informative pamphlets were distributed to the community. Dialogues were held regarding how to deal with the effects of gender-based violence and safety tips were shared for the festive season.
The Piet Retief Station Commander, Colonel Thela, VISPOL-commander, Lieutenant Colonel Blose, Sector-one commander, Sergeant Magagula, Constable Sibiya, the Communications Officer of the Mkhondo SAPS, the Osloop CPF Sub-Sector Committee and Mr Khuzwayo of the Safety and Security Department of the Gert Sibande region were all present for the inception of the campaign.
Other stakeholders who were present also included members of the Mkhondo Rehabilitation Centre and the Mkhondo Municipality Speaker, Councillor T. Nkosi.
The SAPS would like to express their thanks to the community of Osloop for attending the meeting and showing interest in the fight against gender based violence.
