Head-on collisions – ten injured

On Wednesday, 4 December at approximately 12:35, four people sustained minor injuries and one was left seriously injured after being involved in an accident on the Amsterdam road.

The circumstances surrounding this accident is uncertain, but it is suspected that the driver of the vehicle that was travelling from Amsterdam towards Piet Retief lost control and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

On Thursday, 5 December on the Wakkerstroom road, two minibus also collided head on. Apparently the driver of the one taxi swerved to avoid an accident after the driver of the vehicle in front of him suddenly stopped in the road. He then crashed into an oncoming taxi. One person sustained serious injuries and four others were treated for minor injuries.

Mr Nortje urges drivers to adjust their speed according to the circumstances, drive slower when it is raining as the wet roads can easily cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Do not overtake where oncoming traffic is not clearly visible or where you have limited visibility.
