Youth of Today fun run
The importance of a healthy lifestyle needs to be taught at a young age

On Friday, 4 October the management of the Youth of Today Centre in collaboration with the team from Pick n Pay Church Street, hosted the Youth of Today fun run at Imizamoyethu Primary School.

This event was a part of a social behavioural change programme that was put in motion by the personnel of the Youth of Today Centre. Before the fun run started, members of the SAPS, Fire Department and other stakeholders each had a chance to speak to the children about the various challenges that they might face during their lifetimes. They also used this opportunity to reassure the learners that they can trust the authorities and that they have nothing to fear.

Thank you to the Youth of Today Centre’s management for putting this event into motion

This event was also put into motion to encourage the learners of the school to take their fitness levels and the importance of a healthy lifestyle seriously. The younger scholars ran a two kilometre race whilst the older learners took part in a five kilometre race. For some, this fun run might have been the start of the lovely feeling to be healthy and fit.

The team from Pick n Pay donated R500-00 towards refreshing drinks for the day. They also found it in their hearts to donate to the school new soccer jerseys and a soccer kit. A much needed and appreciated gift.

Thank you to the team of the Youth of Today Centre for initiating this event and reaching out to the youth of Mkhondo. For more information regarding the centre, kindly contact Sifiso Salelwayo on 078 448 5190 or Thully Zondo on 078 576 2248.
