On Monday, 9 September at about 02:50, a security guard (Phiwa Nene) saw three men approaching him and suddenly one pointed a firearm at him.
Two of the house robbers rushed into the apartments and took two double beds to the value of R10 000-00 and loaded them onto their vehicle. The apartments are located in Harmony Park and belong to a local businessman from town, who is also the chairman of the CPF (Communications Policing Forum), Mr Lushaba.
Before these two suspected house robbers could flee the scene, they were arrested by Mrs Mdlet, the owner of the security company. The suspect with the firearm managed to flee the scene.
Mr Lushaba got his beds back on the same day.
The Piet Retief SAPS management are asking business owners to employ security guards for their businesses.
The case is still under further investigation.
