Harmony Park Combined School represents Mkhondo

On Saturday, 24 August, the U/15 Sevens rugby team of Harmony Park Combined School represented Mkhondo at the School Mass Participation Summer Games event at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo.

Combined School Teams from the Albert Luthuli Municipality (Carolina), Govan Mbeki Municipality (Secunda), Msukaligwa Municipality (Ermelo) and Lekwa Local Municipality (Standerton) were also present at the games.

The results for the Harmony Park Sevens team were as follows:

  1. Harmony Park beats Standerton, 28-7.
  2. Harmony Park walked off the field as winners after beating Carolina, 30-0.
  3. In their final game, they unfortunately lost against Secunda, 12-22.

During these games, four boys of Mkhondo were chosen to represent the Gert Sibande District Municipality on provincial level on 14 September, at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo. Congratulations to Philani Lukhele, Khaya Dube, Zwakele Thabede and Ntokozo Zwane.

Their coach, Mr Skhumbuzo Mgcobo, feels a great sense of pride towards his talented team. He and his team would like to thank Piet Retief High School for assisting them whilst they were training for the event. Thank you also to each and every parent who has been supporting these learners.
