Six serious accidents

A total of six serious accidents were reported to the Emergency Services from 3-7 July 2019.

On Wednesday, 3 July 2019, around 15:05, an accident occurred on the corner of De Jager – and Draad Street. A white Toyota Corsa bakkie travelling in a North to South direction in De Jager Street, did not see the stop sign. The bakkie drove on. A transporter vehicle travelling from East to West in Draad Street, collided with the bakkie.

The impact caused both vehicles to move a distance and the transporter vehicle came to a standstill against a tree. The bakkie came to a standstill on the side of the road. Two passengers were seriously injured and 12 people walked away with minor injuries.

Another accident happened on Wednesday, 3 July 2019, at approximately 17:20, on the Gerhard Böhmer road. According to the report, a vehicle was travelling in the direction of eThandakukhanya when the driver lost control and hit a pole. No injuries were reported. Also on Wednes- Busy week for Emergency Services day, 3 July 2019, at 18:17, Emergency Services were called out to an accident at the Paulpietersburg and Commondale crossing. An Isuzu bakkie did not see a tractor’s trailer and collided into the trailer.

According to the report, the lights on the trailer were not functioning, hence the accident. This accident caused one person’s death and another person was lightly injured. On Saturday, 6 July 2019, one person sustained a serious injury and five others were also injured during an accident that occurred on the Wakkerstroom road.

According to the Emergency Services, a Volkswagen Polo was travelling in the direction of Wakkerstroom when the driver lost control and collided head on with an oncoming Audi, travelling in the direction of Piet Retief. Emergency personnel were called to an accident on Sunday, 7 July 2019, at 14:45, where three people were injured when the left back tyre of a Toyota Yaris burst. The vehicle was travelling from Ermelo in the direction of Piet Retief.

Also on Sunday, 7 July 2019, at 20:00, one person was slightly injured in an accident that occurred on the Amsterdam road. According to the report the driver of the vehicle lost control and the vehicle overturned. If any problem with this report, please contact Mr Anton Nortje on 079 872 8989.
