STAGEkidz, Mary Rowe’s Studio for Young Performers, het Dinsdag die PodiumPret Redenaarskompetisie in Piet Retief aangebied.
Die spog sprekersvaardigheids- Carolina van der Westhuizen by van die deelnemers geleentheid is die breinkind van Carolina van der Westhuizen. Dit bevorder veral Afrikaanse sprekersvaardigheid en leesvertolking.
22 leerlinge het ingeskryf en Van der Westhuizen was beïndruk met die voortreflike prestasies. Elke leerling ontvang n sertifikaat, leesboek en balkie. Vrydag vind die Mpumalanga Halfeindstryd plaas in Secunda. Sterkte aan die leerlinge wat deurgedring het.
STAGEkidz, Mary Rowe’s Studio for Young Performers, hosted the National Eisteddfod Academy’s (NEA) regional showcase on 21-22 August.
Altogether 124 items, from choir and solo song, instrumental arrangements, dance, drama, recitals, and public speaking resounded from Piet Retief High School. No other showcase in the region hosts such an array of categories and genres. This is the third year running with the number of participants increasing annually.
The adjudicators included the CEO of the NEA, Dr. Francois van den Berg, who holds a PhD in Music; and actor and singer, Rene Blaauw. Participants receive a percentage mark. A Diploma is awarded for an excellent performance with a percentage mark above 90%, where the skill, level, knowledge and understanding pertaining to the performance was outstanding.
Gold is awarded for a good presentation where the participant, or group, has delivered a successful performance. Silver is awarded for a performance that is satisfactory. Bronze is awarded for a performance that has not met the expectations set out by this showcase.
Schools and studios who participated in this year’s showcase and their gradings: Alpha & Omega: Gold – 8, Silver – 9 Laerskool Amsterdam: Gold – 6, Silver – 1 Maranatha School: Diploma – 7, Gold – 9, Silver – 7 Piet Retief High School: Diploma – 6, Gold – 8, Silver – 1 Piet Retief Primary School: Diploma – 9, Gold – 13, Silver – 4 STAGEkidz: Diploma – 3, Gold – 7, Silver – 5 Wittenberg Schule: Gold – 4, Silver – 1 Marina Stander Musiekskool trained Grace Filter, Allan Freise and Jonathan Rowe who all received Diplomas.
Ju-Nett’s Dance Academy trained various dancers who participated under Piet Retief Primary School and all obtained either Diploma certificates or Gold for their routines. Jenny van Zyl assisted in accompanying various vocal entries. Various homeschoolers entered. Nina and Tessa Peters received a Diploma for their Worship in Dance routine.
Timon, Siegrid and Astrid Dedekind achieved four Diplomas, one Gold and one Silver certificate for their items.
