The SAVF hard at work in Piet Retief

The Social Services of Piet Retief are doing their utmost to help children in need. Two children from Harmony Park recently lost their mother.

They are now residing with their father, who approached the office to report that his children do not have birth certificates. Their biological mother did not have an ID and passed away before she could get her affairs in order.

Upon conducting a school and home visit, it was evident that the children were in need of care. The social worker requested a donation from a local business in Piet Retief, Crazy Bargains, who did not hesitate to donate new school uniforms to the children.

The SAVF (Suid-Afrikaanse Vrouefederasie) Piet Retief social worker, Prudence Nxumalo together with one of their volunteers also handed the children new blankets to keep warm this winter. They will continue to assist the family by applying for the children’s birth certificates and also counselling services to help the children deal with the loss of their mother.

The SAVF Piet Retief would like to give thanks to all the donations received to date. For more information on how you can donate, contact the Piet Retief Social Services office on 017 826 2202 or by e-mail:
