New Dalisu Investment for Mkhondo

Dalisu Holdings (Pty) Ltd (Dalisu) is a majority blackowned industrial chemical company which focuses on the commercialisation and marketing of dust suppression products within the mining industry.

The company was established by Mr Mohlomi Mothobi and Dr Nathi Ngcobo, both previously employees of Mpact Operations (Pty) Ltd. In addition to the dust suppression business, Dalisu has approved the investment for a new Sodium Sulphate Plant which will be located at the Mpact Piet Retief Mill Site.

The plant is to beneficiate a mill by-product into a 99.5% Sodium Sulphate for sale into the South African detergent market. The plant capacity is designed for 75 tons per day.

The project is complex and unique in its design and the final equipment selection is based on several years of study and engineering by Process Plant Technologies and the Dalisu-Mpact team.

The complexity in the design of the plant is not only restricted to specialised imported equipment, but also specialised materials of construction and safety designed into the process. Construction commences in April 2019.

The completion of the project is expected in August 2020. This project forms part of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Black Industrialist Scheme and creates local employment, generates regional spend and displaces imported product. The plant will generate new skilled, semi-skilled, as well as indirect employment opportunities.

There will also be other job opportunities created during the construction phase of the plant. The engagement with the local and traditional leaders is well underway, through a Community Project Steering Committee, to ensure that there is maximum participation of the local community within the project.
