Soroptimist International visits the Asidlale Project

Last week, the Asidlale Team and TTN/Fontana Missions hosted ladies from Soroptimist Internationa l ’s Germany and Tshwane Clubs.

With over 75,000 members in 122 Countries worldwide, Soroptimist International globally supports Projects that uplift the conditions and treatment of women and children. Wendy and Amanda travelled to Germany in 2017, to meet the SI Germany Ladies from the Detmold-Lippische Rose, Bad Oeynhausen and Wittekindsland Clubs.

The purpose of their visit here? To see the Asidlale Box in action! We had the opportunity to show our guests where the boxes are being distributed, and introduce them to the communities where we are working. The roads in our area were truly an eye opener for our German visitors, and they will return with a renewed appreciation of their ‘first world’ infrastructure!

SI Germany with TTN and Johnny & Gudrun EngelbrechtWe visited Lindiwe’s crèche at eNtombe and Eslinah’s crèche near Commondale, and then it was on to Nesta’s house where she demonstrated how she plays with her grandchildren using the Asidlale Box. Wednesday’s ‘Production Morning’ at Fontana Church was a definite highlight, with about 35 ladies in attendance!

For the first time the SI Ladies could see how the items in the boxes are made, packed, and ‘checked’ for distribution! The visit was concluded with a day of sightseeing and shopping in the beautiful Swaziland, (eSwatini).

There was time to share more on the challenges and visions of the Project during the drive, and to introduce the Galilee Training Centre (Heyshope Dam) where we are going to train farm workers and community members on the DBS (Discovery Bible Study), as well as the various ‘Access Ministries’ (Asidlale Box, Carpentry/ Skills Development, Entrepreneurial Skills and especially on the Farming God’s Way methods of farming with pigs, vegetables and crops).

The Asidlale Team would like to say a very big thank you to our guests for their support and confidence in the Asidlale Project, and for taking a detour on their South African holiday to visit us. It was our pleasure to host you all.

Lastly, to everyone at TTN/Fontana who helped us during the week, especially with the Production Morning, a very big THANK YOU to all of you as well! We could not have done it without you. Auf wiedersehen Soroptimist Ladies – we look forward to seeing you again soon, either in Germany or back in SA!
