Another spectacular achievement for Mkhondo! Andrea Abrahams, a beautiful lady from Mkhondo, gave the Excelsior News an inside-view of her recent experience at the prestigious crowning of Miss Mpumalanga, which took place on Saturday, 6 April, in Nelspruit.
With great excitement, she left for Nelspruit on Sunday, 31 March to attend the Miss Mpumalanga bootcamp with the other 11 finalists. They had the privilege to stay at the Southern Sun Hotel and were treated like royalty.

On Thursday, 4 April, it was time for the pre-judging and with a panel of six judges, all 12 finalists’ nerves were shattered. Andrea said that she was very nervous, but managed to stay calm throughout the process.
On Saturday, 6 April, the much anticipated day had finally arrived and of the 12 finalists, the girls were reduced to only six. Congratulations to the 20-year old Kebalepile Ramafoko, of Emalahleni, who was crowned as Miss Mpumalanga for 2019, together with Bongiwe Mdaka as first princess and Nokubonga Khumalo as second princess. Andrea, you made Mkhondo proud – well done!
Another local talent impresses! On Thursday, 6 December 2018, the Miss Mpumalanga auditions were held in Witbank and Miss Andrea Abrahams, a dynamic young lady of Mkhondo, attended the auditions, amongst 100 other competitors across the Mpumalanga Province.
Andrea mentioned to the Excelsior News that she decided she was finished with beauty pageants after her last competition in 2016, but deep inside, she knew that the urge was always there to compete in the Miss Mpumalanga and Miss South Africa pageants. At the auditions, the ladies had an interview with a panel of seven judges who were very intimidating and the questions were tough to answer.
After a few days, Andrea received a phone call informing her that she had been chosen as one of the Top 22! During January 2019, the ladies had to attend a camp where another round of auditions were conducted. They were interviewed again and they were judged in their swimwear.
From there, the Top 22 competitors were cut down to only 12 finalists. Andrea stated that she is honoured to represent Mkhondo in the Miss Mpumalanga 2019 pageant.
She values her support system, which includes her family, friends, her colleagues at Piet Retief Primary School and the whole community of Mkhondo. The crowing of Miss Mpumalanga is set to take place on Saturday, 6 April 2019, at the AFM Communio Church in Nelspruit.
At time of publication, it was not clear on which channel the live event would be broadcasted and the details will be published when they become available. We wish you the best of luck Andrea, may all your dreams come true!
