The Piet Retief Parkrun was held for the first time on Saturday, 26 January 2019, and even with some cooler weather and a raindrop here and there, the 5 km run/walk was enjoyed by everyone who registered.
The inaugural Piet Retief Parkrun had 179 participants of which 100 entrants were doing their first ever Piet Retief Parkrun. The participants were impressed by the route, even with some splashes of mud here and there.
Out of all the entries, seven people had no barcodes, 26 registered as runners, 59 registered as joggers and 87 registries were received for walkers. Most of the participants were women but, the men did not hold back and an average time spent on the route was about 44:55.
Thank you to the organisers of Piet Retief Parkrun – may this be a huge success! Mrs Carr would like to emphasise that the organisers need the assistance of volunteers to help with the scanning of the barcodes and any help wherever needed. If you would like to be of help at the Parkrun, kindly contact Mrs Carr on 083 325 4492.
