The first ever winners of the iNtokozo Soccer Cup U/19, Total Football United FC.
On Saturday, 1 December 2018, the first ever iNtokozo Soccer U/19 Cup Tournament kicked-off at the Mandla Magudulela Stadium, eThandukhukanya and the tournament went well!
The final match between Total Football United FC and Citizen FC kickedoff on Friday, 14 December.
Even with some heavy winds, lightning now and then and some dark clouds that promised much needed rain, the heavens opened for a while after which the players and spectators were ready for action.
The game started with a moment of silence to honour the former Mkhondo LFA and Gert Sibande District’s third Deputy President, Miss Khanyi Ndlangamandla, who sadly passed away on Wednesday, 12 December 2018. During the final, both teams had a fair chance of being crowned as the winners. With Citizen FC on guard, Mzwandile “Vieira” (18), managed to score one goal in the 25th minute of the first half.
The second goal of the match was scored in the second half after Total Football United FC’s players turned on the pressure on their opponents by using their traditional long balls to enter their territory. This tactic worked in getting a set piece in the 7th minute of the second half.
When Citizen FC’s defence failed during the iNtokozo Soccer Cup match, defender Sihle “Boykie” Sangweni managed to tap in with a back flip and scored the second goal for Total Football United FC. The game took a sudden turn with Citizen FC’s attackers giving it their all, but to no avail.
Total Football United FC scored their 3rd goal and killed the match in the 35th minute of the second half when their defence failed to deal with a corner. This error gave Mfanufikile “Benzema” Nhleko a chance to head the ball into the net, bringing Total Football United FC’s lead to 3-0 against their disappointed rivals.
After the game, the clubs were presented with prizes, which were handed over by Mkhondo LFA’s Deputy President, Mr Mduduzi “Johnny” Nkosi. He was assisted by the chairperson of the Mkhondo Women Football Committee, Mr Thembela Mdluli. The champions were awarded with a full playing kit, a shining trophy, golden medals and a whopping R5 000-00 cash prize.
Citizen FC’s players received silver medals, two match balls and R2 000- 00. Third place was shared between PR Wanderers FC and England FC and the team members each received bronze medals together with a R500-00 cash prize.
The third place was shared as rain interrupted the match on Saturday, 8 December 2018, of disposable waste within certain villages of Mkhondo during the last few months of 2018. These individuals were able to recycle some waste and generate an income for themselves through Waste Management. TVK Recyclers will soon be offering a free training session on Waste Management to interested parties in our area.
The community is looking forward to join hands with the municipality as well as TVK Recyclers and play their part in making Mkhondo a cleaner, safer and refuse-free area. which was also supposed to be the date of the final. Games had to be changed around due to poor weather conditions. Individual prizes were also handed out to exceptional players in the iNtokozo U/19 Cup. C

Mxolisi “Sexy” Shongwe (Total Football United FC) and Lungelo “Dukuduku” Nkosi (Citizen FC). This tournament will commence again during the second half of 2019.
