Siyakhula Reconciliation Soccer Tournament in Amsterdam

On the 15th and 16th of December 2018, Siyakhula Forestry, hosted a successful soccer tournament at the KwaThandeka Stadium in Amsterdam.

The tournament consisted of nine soccer clubs from surrounding areas and also those within Amsterdam, who are also competing in the Amsterdam Local Football Association’s competition.

This prestigious tournament was marked as an historic event as it was the first ever final in which Barcelona FC and Amabhubesi FC, who both have been dominating local football in Amsterdam, did not make the finals. Barcelona FC faced defeat against Peacemakers FC with a score of 1-5 in the early stages of the game while Amabhubesi FC had been eliminated by Ajax FC with a 1-2 defeat in their semifinal match.

The finals were set to take place between the Peacemakers FC and Ajax FC. During this pulsating game, players of the Peacemakers gave it their all and quickly set the bar high as the game came to an exhilarating end with a 3-2 win for Peacemakers FC.

Amabhubesi Juniors FC and the Young Birds FC also faced each other and ended with a 2 all draw – well done boys! Siyakhula Forestry was thanked for their generous sponsorship as the winners of the tournament (Peacemakers FC) walked away with a cash prize of R1 700-00 and a soccer kit. The runners- up (Ajax FC) were awarded with a R1 000-00 and a soccer ball.

Mr Bongani Dlamini, chairperson of the Amsterdam Local Football Association, stated that the Siyakhula Forestry tournament was yet again one to remember and all the team’s players are ready to practise very hard to make their 2019 football season a raging success as well.
