Mr Mabuza, spokesperson for the Piet Retief Hospital, informed the Excelsior News on Monday, 7 January that Piet Retief welcomed a total of eight new year’s babies on New Year’s Day at Piet Retief Hospital.
The first baby born on 1 January 2019, was at 00:04 – a boy. Staff members of Piet Retief Superspar joined in the celebrations and the supermarket sponsored gift hampers to the new mothers. It was confirmed that during the course of Tuesday, 1 January 2019, three more boys and five girls were born at Piet Retief Hospital.
Mr Mabuza also provided the province’s statistics on babies that were born on New Year’s Day: • Ehlanzeni District – had 74 deliveries (35 girls and 39 boys) • Gert Sibande District – had 51 deliveries (22 girls and 29 boys) • Nkangala District – had 40 deliveries (31 girls and 9 boys) Congratulations are in order to all the new mothers with their precious new little ones!
