Miss Mkhondo 2018

On a lovely Friday, 28 September 2018, Sakhile Creations and Sibongokuhle Creative Minds hosted the Miss Mkhondo and Miss Teen Mkhondo 2018 Beauty Pageants.

Nkululeko Hadebe and Hlengiwe Madonsela were announced as the MC’s (masters of ceremonies) for the evening and they outdid themselves. Everyone waited in anticipation for the crowning to take place at the Kempville Hall, at around 18:00 and it was definitely worth the wait.

Congratulations to the following winners: Miss Mkhondo 2018: Pamela Nhlakanipho Lukhele, from Piet Retief was crowned the winner and Sharonn Vuyisile Simelane from Amsterdam was crowned as princess. Miss Teen Mkhondo 2018: Nonhle Mbuyisa from Amsterdam was crowned as the winner while Luyanda Khumalo from Piet Retief was announced as princess.

The organisers would like to thank all their sponsors and supporters. It was an unforgettable day for all the beauties, winners and guests. The winners received a driver’s licence course and a weekend-away. They also received a beauty hamper which they will use to pamper themselves.

Thank you to the Mkhondo Youth Development Centre’s manager, Sithembele Zulu, for all her assistance and guidance throughout the day. The judges are also thanked for their participation. Founder of the Miss Mkhondo Pageant stated that the event is to promote self-confidence, leadership, poise and strong public speaking skills. Being crowned as a queen of a local community is a huge opportunity for any young lady. This enables her to become a role model for other young girls.

The crown also comes with some responsibility. The winners are responsible to represent their towns where they will have to create a special platform for other young ladies. They will be advocating women and children’s rights amongst other things and they will have to engage into various conversations with citizens and organisations in Mkhondo. Good luck ladies and keep on making Mkhondo proud!
