Handing over of fully furnitured house

Mkhondo Local Municipality and Gert Sibande TVET College blessed Ms Grace Mbatha with a fully furnitured house consisting of a kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms and a bath room.

The handing over of the beautiful house was graced with the presence of Honourable Executive Mayor, Cllr Vusi Motha, Municipal Manager, Mr Maqhawe Kunene, and Gert Sibande TVET College Management.

Ms Grace Mbatha suffered a tragedy when her house was burnt down by community members, accusing her of witchcraft. This situation left Grace and her family homeless for 8 years, living in a caravan. It was a horrible path indeed.

However Gert Sibande TVET College working together with Mkhondo Local Municipality managed to assist Grace and restored her dignity by building her a new home. The house was built by the former graduates of Gert Sibande TVET College, Civil Engineering faculty working together with Mr Madonsela.

GS TVET College management thanked the municipality for working hand in hand with them in order for this project to be a reality. Ms Portia Radingwane Mange further explained that they initiated the project during 2016 in different towns. In her statement she mentioned that this year marks the 100 years centenary celebration for Dr Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu.

Executive Mayor, Cllr Vusi Motha, thanked the students for taking their precious time in building the house for the Mbatha family. Cllr Motha also thanked GS College for choosing Mkhondo. He further thanked the media houses for following up on the story.
