Youth Day celebrations

On Saturday, 23 June, Chief Mthethwa’s traditional council organised a celebration to commemorate Youth Day celebrations.

The event started off at 08:00 on the Wittenberg Road with a fun run of 7 km and a fun walk of 5 km. The purpose of the Youth Day celebrations event was to encourage, educate and develop the youth of Mkhondo.

Various stakeholders such as the eMkhondo Library, Mondi Career Guidance Centre, Department of Education and Mkhondo’s Youth Centre were present during the day as they also hosted a career expo.

Chief Mthethwa delivered an encouraging speech to the youth about the importance of education. The day was filled with talented individuals who debated, performed drama acts and recited poems.

The performances by the choirs were exceptional. Chief Mthethwa would like to thank their sponsors: PG Bison, Vumbuka Trust, Reuben Dlamini Foundation, Tswaranang and Avbob, for their continuous support. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!
