The Mkhondo Fire and Rescue Unit personnel had a few car accidents to report on during the past week and fortunately, no injured person sustained serious injuries as a result of these accidents.
Monday, 11 June 2018: It is important to be patient and wait your turn as being inpatient behind the steering wheel of a vehicle, might lead to a serious accident.
At around 14:20, the driver of a Mazda lost control of a vehicle after he tried to overtake an abnormal truck on the Pongola Road. The vehicle rolled and came to a halt in the field next to the road. Two passengers sustained light injuries. At 19:30, a Nissan bakkie was found in a ditch next to the Pongola Road.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and it went off the road. No injuries were sustained in this accident. Friday, 15 June 2018: At around 04:30, the driver of an Audi lost control of the vehicle near the Truck Inn on the N2, en route to Piet Retief. The reason for the accident is unclear but it is assumed that the driver was speeding and one person sustained light injuries.
At 19:45, two vehicles collided on the N2, near the Ajax Village. The driver of a Toyota was en route to Piet Retief when the driver of a VW Polo turned right into the N2, from the Ajax Village’s turn-off. The vehicles collided and fortunately, no injuries were sustained.
Saturday, 16 June 2018: The driver of a Ford Ranger was heading towards Piet Retief from Mahamba at around 19:30 when he lost control of the bakkie and crashed into a tree near Oos Street. It was found that the driver was intoxicated, but he did not sustain serious injuries.
