On Friday the 2nd of March, the Women’s World Day of Prayer was hosted by Wellspring Ministries. Women from many cultural backgrounds and denominations from Mkhondo gathered to honour Him who created us.
Even though it was Wellspring’s turn to organize the event this year, the extraordinary unity of Mkhondo was tangible through the willingness of women from so many denominations putting their hands, hearts & minds together to make this event truly special and memorable.
The day started with a morning session at 10:00 with praise and worship and prayer for various relevant aspects, like government & the municipality, the men of Mkhondo and also for people in our midst, who feel that they don’t belong or have no purpose in life. After the morning session, women were able to move between the various prayer stations to pray and receive prayer individually or in small groups.
The program continued at 18:00, giving the women who work during the day the opportunity to join in prayer, where we prayed for the youth of Mkhondo, the Church leaders of our town, drug & alcohol abuse, marriages & domestic violence. God spoke to us not only through the various people, but through the flowers, the décor and the music.
He invited us gently to drink and to allow His living water to cleanse, restore and refresh: John 4 v 13-14, 13Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’ and in John 7 v 38 ‘Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ We thank the Lord for the opportunity that we had to come together as women, because “Each time women gather in circles to pray, the world heals a little more…”
