Locals to participate in Put Foot Rally

Three residents of Piet Retief, Yolande Vermaak, Ingo Böhmer and Wynand Nieuwenhuizen, also known as the Scatterlings of Africa (crew number 41), will participate in the Put Foot Rally from 16 June until 5 July 2018.

The Put Foot Foundation is a volunteer- based South African Public Beneficiary and a nonprofitable organisation. Their aim is to tackle the daily need of children without shoes. They operate across South Africa and particularly focus on less privileged children in rural areas, often overlooked by charitable organisations.

This organisation is also handson when it comes to charity as they give their volunteers the opportunity to participate in Shoe Drops, where they have the chance to place the shoes onto the feet of young children, experiencing first-hand the life changing moment, which their donation made possible. The rally will start in Cape Town and continue through Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and finally end in Mozambique.

Although they will be part of this magnificent experience, they will be travelling alone as each crew can decide what route they want to follow. If you would like to sponsor these individuals or make a donation towards the Put Foot Foundation, kindly contact Yolande on 083 439 8961.

Over a three year period, the Put Foot Foundation managed to donate 15 000 pairs of shoes and gave $60 000 (R726 000-00) to charities protecting rhinos in South Africa. Wouldn’t you like to be part of this spectacular event?
