Dialysis Clinic in Piet Retief

Many people in Piet Retief still think if they need dialysis, they are doomed to drive to neighbouring towns for the rest of their lives, but Piet Retief now has its own dialysis clinic.

The clinic is situated next to the Ford Garage, at 18A Zuidend Street. There is a kitchen to provide meals and tea for patients while they are receiving dialysis and there is a generator to keep the clinic running during a power outage.

Current times for dialysis are 07:00 and 17:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with each session lasting four hours. A solution is already in place, should more patients require dialysis. During these sessions, individuals who experience kidney failure are put onto a machine that cleans out and excess fluids and toxins from the kidneys.

The individuals who are currently receiving dialysis are on a list to receive a kidney transplant. These individuals would like to make the community aware of the importance of becoming an organ donor. When looking at specifically the donation of a kidney, one healthy person can help two people with kidney failure get back on their feet and live a normal life again. These individuals cannot work and often struggle with normal day-to-day activities.

If you need dialysis on a regular basis or have a family member who could benefit from this service, contact the clinic at 065 899 1481 to find out what you should do to get help in Piet Retief.
