Two learners from Inqubeko Secondary School will represent the Gert Sibande District at the Indigenous Knowledge System Expo, set to take place from 26 to 28 September at Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit.
The Department of Science and Technology will be partnering with the Department of Arts and Culture and the Mpumalanga Provincial Government, led by the Premier to host the event in the Mpumalanga province. 20 learners from grades 10 and 11 have been selected from 10 schools to participate in the IKS Expo Competitions.
The following prizes are available to contestants: – First prize is a full scholarship for a bachelors of IKS at the University of Venda or the University of North West. This includes tuition fees, books, meals and accommodation. – Second prize is a twelve month experiential learnership at Mpumalanga IKS Documentation Centre, with a stipend of R3 000-00 per month. – Third prize is a laptop.
On Tuesday, 12 September, the two learners, Nokwethemba Ndlangamandla and Dlamini Sbongumuzi went to a briefing session for the expo at Emakhazeni Bording School. The learners were accompanied by Mr Sithole and Mr Ndlangamandla. The principal, Mr S.D. Motha, says that he is confident that the learners will make the school proud and are capable to attain a top position at the expo.
He also reminded the two participants of the school’s motto: Ambition Knows no Limits. Good luck to these two learners as they represent Mkhondo. We wish them the best of luck and hope that they will perform to the best of their capabilities at the expo.
