People seriously injured during numerous accidents with one person losing his life.
People seriously injured when a white Toyota and a heavy motor vehicle were involved in an accident on the Ermelo road, at around 15:00. The driver of the Toyota was underway to Piet Retief and the heavy motor vehicle was driving towards Ermelo.
A tyre of the Toyota burst, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the two vehicles collided. One person was seriously injured during this accident. At 08:00, on Wednesday, 16 August, the driver of a Toyota Hilux lost control of his vehicle on the Ermelo road.
As Emergency Services’ personnel could not gain information from the driver at scene, the reason why the driver lost control of the vehicle is unknown. After losing control of the vehicle, it rolled and one person was seriously injured with another who sustained minor injuries. On Thursday, 17 August, the driver of a bakkie drove off the N2 at 19:40, just past KDH Bricks, underway to Ermelo.
According to the driver, an oncoming vehicle was driving on the wrong side of the road. The driver of the bakkie swerved to avoid a head-on collision and drove off the road. One person sustained minor injuries during the accident. On Friday, 18 August, at 15:30, the driver of a heavy motor vehicle drove off a bridge on the gravel road next to the railroad.
According to the driver, the steering locked and the truck slid off the bridge, into the river. One person sustained critical injuries and one person lost his life during the accident.

On Tuesday, 10 March at approximately 21:26, the driver of a Nissan NP300 bakkie lost control on the corner of Mark – and Draad Street and drove the bakkie through a wall. No injuries were reported.
On Sunday, 15 March at around 09:00, on the corner of Kerk – and Smit Street, the driver of a red Citroen apparently ignored a red traffic light and collided with a Volkswagen Golf. As a result of the collision, the Citroen rolled and damage a traffic light. Three people were injured during this accident. This accident is currently still under investigation by the Mkhondo SAPS and no further detail may be shared.
