Recently, members from AGS Fontana Church joined hands in a clean up project at Othandweni, near Heyshope Dam.
While everyone was freezing on Saturday, the 13th of May, this group got up bright and early to help with the cleaning of the yard and buildings at Othandweni. The aim is to utilise the premises as a crises – and skills training center.
This old school premises were donated to TTN Missions along with 20 ha of land, sponsored by Tommie and Bossie Ferreira. The buildings will be used as a safe haven for victims of abuse, who are recovering from a traumatic experience.
A non-profitable organisation, Abakhuseli, is partnering with them on this project and they will correspond with Social Services and other governmental departments as to when the visitors will be ready to be moved or placed elsewhere. They are planning to use the grounds as a base for the Farming God’s Way Vegetables and Livestock projects and the 20 ha will be used to teach communities the principles of these initiatives.
The center itself will be used as a training facility. Communities will have the opportunity to earn an income from the skills such as bag making, bee keeping and carpentry. An update will be given with regards to this project, but if you are interested in lending a helping hand, kindly contact the AGS Fontana office at 017 826 2437.
