Piet Retief Cricket Club News

Piet Retief Cricket Club News – Unfortunately, the match on Saturday, 14 January, was cancelled due to the rain. The team will be facing Ermelo at the Dumbe Club in Paulpietersburg on Saturday, 21 January.

Good luck boys, all of the best. Alicia Giles (19), who has been representing the Mpumalanga senior team, since the age of 14, played against the Northerns from KZN this past weekend. The Northerns, however, were the better team in both the one day and T20 matches and the Pumas lost both matches.

According to Alicia, the Northerns are a tough opponent, but she truly enjoyed playing against them. Alicia will be representing Piet Retief’s women team on Sunday, 22 January, when they take on Ermelo here at home. She will then take to the field again for the Pumas on the 4th and 5th of February, when they face the Northern Cape in Kimberley.

The Johan Rudolph Cricket Academy will officially be launching on Friday, 20 January, at the High School from 14:00 and on Saturday, 21 January, at the Primary School from 08:00 to 11:00. The academy in Piet Retief will give local players more exposure in terms of professional coaching and matches during 2017.

Local coaches will run the coaching sessions and will receive training and education on a regular basis. Players are free to visit the launch and find out more.
