Borussia Commondale Tournament

On Friday, 16 December 2016, the members from Borussia Commondale hosted a soccer tournament, sponsored by Supa Quick, Piet Retief.

The members from Borussia Commondale always do their best to try and keep the youngsters away from drugs and alcohol, by means of football, as the youth from Commondale are underprivileged and don’t always have something to keep themselves busy with.

Sport is great way to keep the children busy and also teach them how to live healthier lifestyles. With the December school holidays well under way at that time, the only way to get the youth together was a football tournament!

  • Nkosheni FC lost to Dynamos FC 1-3,
  • Mara Mara FC beat Langfotein FC 1-0,
  • Baroka FC lost 0-1 to Gqamu FC and Dynamos FC beat Gqamu FC 1-0. The final was a hard fought battle, with the players from Dynamos FC and Mara Mara FC giving their best to be crowned as champions.
  • At the end there could only be one winner and the outcome was decided on penalties as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Mara Mara FC overpowered Dynamos FC to claim a 4-2 win on penalties. The winners received a trophy and gold medals, with the team in second receiving silver medals, all sponsored by Supa Quick, Piet Retief.

Congratulations to all the players who participated, although there can only be one winner, you are all stars! Borussia Commondale would also like to thank Mr Werner Peters from Piet Retief Supa Quick for his generous donation of the trophy and medals. He also mentioned that Borussia Commondale are doing a great job and hopes that more businesses jump in to support the cause!
