Mkhondo Club Development Cup 2016

On Sunday, 4 December, the Mkhondo LFA hosted the Mkhondo Club Development Cup finals at the Mandla Magudulela Stadium in eThandukukhanya.

First up were the men’s teams. In the The captain from Total Football United FC, receiving the trophy from MMC Honourable Daniel Motha quarterfinals, Nala Aces FC beat HiFi FC 2(5)-2(4) on penalties, Amapansula FC narrowly lost 1-2 to Comet Riders FC and Total Football United FC beat Amabhubesi FC 1(5)-1(4) on penalties.

In the semifinal, Nala Aces FC scored their way into the final, beating Comet Riders FC 3-1 and Total Football United FC went through to the final on a bye. The final was a brilliant match, but at the end, Total Football United FC edge Nala Aces FC, beating them with 1-0.

The ladies teams also showed what they were made of, with some great football. In the top six shootout, Hintalo Stars FC lost 0(4)-0(5) to One Touch Ladies FC, Losta Stars Ladies FC crushed Dube United Ladies FC 5-1 and Moving United FC went through on a bye.

The semifinals were yet again a hard fought battle, with One Touch ladies FC losing out to Moving United FC 1-3 and Losta Stars Ladies FC passing through on a bye. The final was a scorcher, with Losta Stars Ladies FC winning on penalties, beating Moving United FC 4(4)-4(3).

Well done to all the participating teams and a huge round of applause to the champions of 2016. The winning teams each received a trophy, medals, a new soccer kit and balls. Second place received medals, a new soccer kit and balls, with third and fourth each receiving soccer balls.
