Uzwelo Says Thank You!

The staff members and children from Uzwelo Child and Youth Care Centre would like to say thank you to each and every person who was kind enough to donate an item of food towards the Food Drive Initiative!

The December holiday is getting closer and the children living at Uzwelo are leaving to visit their families or holiday parents soon. It is essential for these children to be able to take a food parcel home because in some cases there is no food available at home. Uzwelo Home started a Food Drive Initiative where Piet Retief Primary School as well as Piet Retief High School were involved.

A youth group from the high school joined hands and donated food towards the Food Drive and the primary school had a competition to see which class could bring the most food to school. One of the grade seven classes won and they will enjoy a class party sponsored by Uzwelo Home! At this stage of the year most of the funds at Uzwelo are depleted or running very low and currently there are no funds available for food parcels for the children.

Learners from the High School initiated a casual day where the kids brought food items, which were then donated to the staff members at Uzwelo Home. We all make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give! Thank you to everyone who is always willing to give more than what they get in return, you are making a difference in the lives of orphaned children!
