No matter what time of day or the weather conditions, the Emergency Services are always ready to respond.

On Monday, 19 September, a bus with children was heading towards Wakkerstroom from Piet Retief. The driver allegedly lost control and the bus then drifted off the road and rolled. Sadly, two children passed away. With the incident under investigation, no information is currently available at this time.

On Tuesday, 20 September, two trucks were travelling on the Ermelo road, when one truck smashed into the back of the other. The exact cause of the accident is still unknown, but fortunately there were no serious injuries.

On Friday, 23 September, there was a headon accident between a truck and a BMW on the Wakkerstroom road.

It was very misty On Sunday, 25 September, the driver of a minibus was travelling from Commondale, when he tried to stop at the Commondale/ Paulpietersburg intersection, but failed to do so, due to the minibus’s brakes apparently not in working order. The minibus then headed straight into the field and rolled.

There were injuries, but the Emergency Services were given incorrect directions and by the time they got to the scene, the ambulances had already taken the injured passengers away.

People should always remember to be 100% sure when giving directions in the case of an emergency. This saves time and time could save a life. and the visibility was poor, making it nearly impossible to see the road or even the traffic ahead.

The truck was apparently travelling on the wrong side of the road and when the driver of the BMW noticed it and tried to swerve out, it was already too late. Unfortunately the passenger of the BMW died in the accident.
