Imizamoyethu Celebrated Literacy Week

A literacy week was held at the school grounds of Imizamoyethu Primary School, in Phola Park, on Thursday, the 8th of September.

On a windy, humid morning, learners and staff members gathered in the school’s courtyard to celebrate the talents some of their learners have. These talented children can surely dance as well! The event started off with an open and welcoming speech by Ms N.C. Mtshali and a beautiful singing performance by the grade R-learners.

Shortly thereafter, learners from grades 1, 2 and 3 where called upon to read in their home language, isiZulu. The learners then had the opportunity to read in English as well. One must say, their reading skills are excellent indeed. Oral presentations were performed by all three grades and thereafter, performing arts were carried out too. The children danced to the rhythm of their own songs they sang.

Well done to all of the performers who participated in the Literacy Week. These were excellent performances! The learners were given trophies and the day was ended off with a word of thanks from Ms N.C. Mtshali. May these children go from strength to strength in their education and keep up the good work and performances!
