Happy Birthday to Mpumalanga’s VLU – A celebration was held at the Woodhill Centre (Pick n Pay) for the VLU in Mpumalanga’s 21st birthday, on Thursday, the 25th of August.

Ladies from the VLU celebrated the Mpumalanga region’s 21st year of existence by setting up a tent decorated with balloons. The ladies also laid the tables with “Herman’s Hertzog” cakes, proudly baked by both the members of the day branch and the Kaleidoskoop branch. The event started off with a few members walking from The Green Door Guesthouse in support of ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World).

Shortly afterwards, certificates were presented to community members who are considered to have made a difference in the community. Congratulations to the following community members who each received a certificate for well-doing. Tommy Ferreira (his certificate was received by his wife, Melinda de Klerk), Anton Nortje and Sigrid van Niekerk were nominated by the Kaleidoskoop branch. The Piet Retief day branch nominated Tom McSeveney, Anneke Rabe and Bennie Boshoff.

The celebrations continued with the handing of slices of cake to everyone who attended the festivities as well as to people passing by. To end the festivities, everyone started to sing the “Happy Birthday” song – a perfect ending to a perfect celebration!
