Giving Girls Dignity

Giving Girls Dignity – Divine Connection and Mathembi Nkambule Ministries visited Mzamoyethu, Salem and Buhlebuzile Schools on Saturday, the 13th of August.

These ladies are doing their best to fulfil the needs of young girls. Some girls often absent themselves from school for five days each month, in total adding up to 60 days per year, due to the lack of sanitary towels and being afraid of embarrassing themselves. With the help of a company named Mvumbuka Trust, they managed to provide 120 girls from Mkhondo with washable sanitary towels!

By providing the girls with these, they no longer have to be embarrassed, nor be absent from school unnecessarily. The aim of the visit was to teach the girls about their bodies, personal hygiene and gifting them with sanitary towels. Sister Duduzile Nhleko, from Piet Retief Hospital, taught them about how to use these washable sanitary towels and afterwards, Ndumi Buthelezi, from Mkhondo Municipality, spoke to the girls about HIV and Aids.

Mrs Anneke Rabe said a few words of empowerment to the girls. It was an enjoyable day for all. Mathembi Nkambule Ministries and Divine Connection would like to thank their sponsors, Mvumbuka Trust and Mkhondo Municipality, for making this intervention possible. They have indeed helped to brighten the days in a few girls’ lives!
