Pearls of the Community

Pearls of the Community – Sometimes life can throw a rock in your path which may feel like a mountain to overcome.

If ever in your life, you get the unfortunate news of being diagnosed with the big “C” – cancer, you might need assistance and support from other individuals who can be your pillar of hope on the most difficult days. That is exactly where these pearls of the community come in.

These ladies help cancer patients with specialised diets, physical care as well as emotional care. They also form part of a link to help the patients get into a CANSA programme to assist with rehabilitation, medication and aftercare. Indeed, a work cut out for someone who really cares for people, without receiving acknowledgement for their deeds, but purely out of love for the cause.

A popular poem explains cancer as follows; Cancer is so limited … it cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot corrode faith, it cannot destroy peace, it cannot kill friendship, it cannot suppress memories, it cannot silence courage, it cannot invade the soul, it cannot steal eternal life and it cannot conquer the spirit.”

A huge thank you to each of the ladies involved for the role they play in the people’s lives they touch daily. These ladies bring peace, hope and so much more to the patients they work with and are indeed making a difference in each of their lives!
