Sifiso Mkhalipi from the Mkhondo Emergency Services obviously has a tender heart for children and their needs.
Teams from the Mkhondo Fire Department and Working on Fire visited the Klein Vrystaat Primary School on Thursday, 19 May. They visited the school to create fire awareness among the learners, explaining to them all the dangers related to fires, safety precautions to be taken and what to do to or where to get help once a fire has started. While at the school, Sifiso noticed a child without shoes who apparently had no shoes to wear and this touched Sifiso’s heart.
He asked two friends to contribute and with his and their contributions, he was able to buy the child not only school shoes and socks, but also trousers, a shirt and a dri-mac. Sifiso says the child, who lives almost next to the Swaziland border with his grandmother, was very happy to receive the clothing. Sifiso says, “I can’t let someone go to school barefoot, if I can do something about it! I want to help where I can.” He also says that the support he receives from Mr Anton Nortjé is super. He has been very supportive in each and everything that Sifiso has done to help others. It really gives one some peace at heart to know what kindhearted people we in Mkhondo have at the local Emergency Services.
