Bergplaas Benefits from Key Water Project

As part of a funded initiative programme of the Mpumalanga Premier, a key water project was handed over to the rural community at Bergplaas on Wednesday, 13 April.

The initiative mentioned above, aims at addressing the water backlog in rural areas. Hence, an introduction of installing high pressure water tanks came into being. Currently nine of these water tanks are being installed in Mkhondo rural villages. At the handing over event at Bergplaas, on 13 April, some of these high pressure water tanks were handed over to the KwanDwalaza Traditional Authority.

Inkosi Mahlobo expressed his happiness about the progress the municipality has made in ensuring that people even in remote rural areas receive basic services. Water is now drawn at a walking distance after new water pipes have been installed. The high pressure water tanks are filled up with potable (drinkable) water, using solar panels. During the handover, the Executive Mayor of the Mkhondo Local Municipality, Cllr B. H. Mtshali reiterated that the Municipality is committed to address the backlog of water supply in Mkhondo. May residents of the greater Mkhondo see many more of these initiatives in future.
